I grew up in small towns in northern Wisconsin, and attended schools that might have as little as fifteen people to a grade. I am attending UW Oshkosh as a part time student in pursuit of a music degree with emphasis in recording technology and music business. Before the end of my first college semester, I started working a job on campus as an Audio/Visual Technician where I ran live sound and lights for local bands, comedians, and other performances brought in by student organizations. It was not long before the excitement of live events drew me toward that side of the industry. That next summer of 2008 I got a temporary job with Clearwing Productions in Milwaukee assisting in the setup of large-scale concert and corporate events. I was a part, all be it small, of festivals such as Summerfest and the state fair; concerts with Steve Miller, Joe Cocker, and Ringo Star to name a few; and a couple presidential campaigns. So addicted had I become to the exciting, non-stop lifestyle of live events that in that same summer I invested a large sum of money into an audio system of my own, and started a small-scale side business. Within the next three years I had been promoted to the lead technician on campus, held a position running lights for my supervisor’s sound company, more than doubled the initial investment in my own business, and, eventually, landed a job with a fast growing company in Appleton as an audio engineer and systems technician. I now travel the country as a crew chief producing live events for hundreds of thousands of people each year.
